Not living up to its reputation

I now own a very expensive dryer that doesn't dry my clothes. Speed queen dryers require a VERY short vent pipe. Our other dryer worked fine and our venting would work with every other dryer on the market. We cannot shorten our vent pipes any more and speed queen will not take back the dryer. I feel that speed queen should let people know this BEFORE they buy the dryer.

First Purchase of Speed Queen product

The name Speed Queen comes with a lot of hype so I felt it would be a reliable replacement for my 23 year old Kenmore washer & dryer. I like the large drum, it has plenty of room for large loads without them being crowded. A disappointment is the Auto-sensing setting on Regular fabric and Dry-Auto dryness do not fully dry clothes, therefore I have to run an additional 30 minutes on timed dry, or stop it early to see if clothes are dry. It would be helpful to have the ability to set the time you want, not just 30 or 60 minutes.

A very good dryer, but has bugs to be worked out.

I own both a Speed Queen dryer and washing machine made in this year, 2025. The washer is faultless in its operation. However, the dryer has been redesigned and has bugs. My clothes come out very damp when I use any setting except dry or dry with extended tumble. I have had service on this unit, where they replaced the main computer in the control panel, but sadly when I tried to use the permanent press heat setting, my clothes still came out damp. When I used the steam function, the same thing happened. Otherwise, when I use the dryer in the driest settings I described earlier, my clothes come out dry as they should for a dryer of this price. The bugs need to be worked out out of this new system.

Dryer vent has melted and causing holes on my shirts and under garments. For such an expensive machine This should never of happened. I've only had it a year. They came to repair it. However, the new dryer vent is changing colors after only a month of installation. I'm keeping a vigilant eye on it because I fear it will put holes on my clothing again. I don't think this new vent will hold as the high heat seams to melt it, I wish it was just a good quality metal without any paint. The paint seems to melt and turn into chards causing the holes. I would not recommend!

Very disappointed in the Dryer

I purchased the washer and dryer last month from ABT in Glenview. My clothes are not fully drying on automatic sensing. I set the timer to 60 minutes and they are still damp when finished. The ABT technician came out and tested the temperature and said it was correct. I paid a CB lot for this set and didn't expect to have to dry laundry for 80 minutes!

Regardless of the settings it gets way too hot and will burn delicates and blankets. Especially fleece style blankets. The greater in the back where the heat comes in gets super hot a clothes will literally leave scorched remnants on it. It does dry super fast though lol

Great warranty, will last me for the rest of my life. . . But, water level can't be adjusted. . . I live in an area that is in serious drought and while there are only two of us in the household there is no need to use so much water. Water here is precious, many wells have gone dry and they are using only what drops out of the sky, and that isn't much. It has taken me time to get used to all of the settings.

Happy to buy & support American-made. It does come with a high price tag though. It does a great job drying. Fast and quiet. The only thing I don't like is that the inside smells like BO. It smelled like this before we used it, just out of the box. I was hoping it would wear off with use, but it still smells. I don't think it is affecting the clothes luckily. I'm hoping it will still fade away.

I waited years to purchase a new washer and dryer and my research said Speed Queen was the best. They were expensive but I thought they would be worth the investment. The washer is great. The dryer is a total lemon. When I first used it in August, it was so loud and would revive up like a jet engine. I've had two service calls on it and thought it was fixed. Tech said lots of loose parts which he tried to tightened up. It's better but now there is a squeaking noise. I truly believe I have been delivered a defective dryer. What a disappointment!

I will be completely honest here. I purchased the set because of Speed Queens reputation. Once purchased, I started following a SQ group on FB and the remarks scared me to death. Mostly, the drier, burnt many of the users clothes. Fast forward, it took 4 months from purchase to receive the set, because I was told SQ is 60% of their business. I was thrilled to finally get the set and it actually had water in the washer. I had begun to think my body stunk sometimes after wearing my clothes all day. Since I have gotten the new set, my clothes smell wonderful at the end of the day and I no longer think it is me that smelled. Whoever came up with a stupid idea that a cup of water here and there tumbling over and over gets clothes clean should be made to wear their clothes for a month at a time. I had started stripping my laundry every couple months by putting them in a tub of water with oxi-clean and the water would turn disgusting brown from all the dirt coming out of them. I am a 73 year old woman, so you know I am not rolling in the dirt daily or even weekly. The drier I started out pretty easy with. Lowest settings, lowest temp and built up to a normal setting, but this is for normal clothes. If I had something I was afraid would burn in the drier; I would hang it to dry so I can't say whether the burning of clothes was with older models or newer ones. All I can say is I SMELL darn good!!!!

The right side panel was pushed in on delivery. When I turned on the dryer the bent panel was rubbing the drum. The dealer I purchased from refunded me 10% and said they would send a replacement part so I can use the dryer. That was 23 days ago. I can't use it so I can't give a rating

Really a great machine that's built like a tank! Suggestion to Speed Queen: Listen to customers feedback regarding the Cycle Selection knob. The selection knob does need updated so that it has the ability to be rotated both clockwise and counter clockwise. For no other reason than to ensure the dryer will not stay continuously running!!

Speed Queen dryer got it all set up and leveled been using it for a month now. When starting the dryer it bangs around sounds horrible after it warms up it gets quieter. The next day after it's cool again starts banging around again. The two screws that hold on the heat screen on the back are not countersink so close get stuck on them and melt.
