Cradle failure at delivery

Received this refrigerator and with the first water fill of the in door ice maker water leaked out of the ice maker and down the inside of the door creating an ice water fall. The issue was quickly resolved and a new refrigerator brought to replace this unit three days after delivery of the first. The unit was cooling with no problem and turning off the ice maker stopped the issue.

I bought is about a month ago. It's a lovely refrigerator but....firstly the handles are uneven. I did read that this has been a major problem. I feel Whirlpool is responsible for fixing this. The other thing I never noticed is that you cannot change the height of the shelves. That really doesn't work for me but, I will keep it of course.

It's probably too early to rate an item that you hope will last ten years; but so far our new fridge is just great. Perhaps a bit more noisy that the GE we gave up. The lighting is particularly nice and we like the location of the ice maker and bin. It has a very attractive appearance for those who like a sleek look (as opposed to multiple drawers and doors and video screens etc).

Bought this couple weeks ago and just think it is alright. Do not like how the ice cubes get stuck in the dispenser flap and then melt all over floor. Really hate how the shelves do not adjust in the main part of the frig. Should have looked into this better, the comparable GE next to it did so assumed this did too. The Whirlpool frig this replaced had adjustable shelves. Hard to get tall items in so have alot of wasted room. Only reason keeping it is that the GE frig is to tall to fit in the spot it has too.

Have had refrigerator for a couple of weeks.. it replaced one that had 1 1/2 more cubic feet. This one appears to hold same amount or more of food. Both refrigerator and freezer sides hold temperature well. On the other hand, water/ice dispenser has trouble delivering ice cubes without throwing in crushed ice as well. And, would be nice if both refrigerator and freezer sections had build in thermometers.

Buyer Beware!

I originally reviewed this refrigerator a year ago on 9/29/18, when it was in our house for 24 hrs. This was not the refrigerator I ordered from a local dealer and my husband didn't want to return it because it's "just a refrigerator". I wanted the water and ice dispenser next to each other, not in front of each other.A year later, I can honestly say this is the worst appliance I have ever owned! We only replace appliances when they break, so unfortunately I'm gonna have to deal with this one for awhile. The shelves on the door are plastic and adjustable, but the glass shelves in the fridge are not. When you open the refrigerator door, hold onto it, because it flops open if you let it go. The ice maker ALWAYS drips water/ice. If you get ice, about 5 minutes later a piece of ice will fall out of the dispenser onto the floor(every time).The catch tray always has water in it. We have actually placed a towel in the catch tray under the water and ice dispenser. The water dispenser in front of the ice dispenser is a big design flaw to me. Depending on the size of the cup, when you try to get ice it will hit the water dispenser spraying water onto the floor. My son won't even use the ice dispenser, he opens the door to get ice( so, what's the purpose of having an ice maker on the outside of the door?) If I had not been at work when this refrigerator was delivered I would never have accepted it. Unfortunately, my husband did not know what refrigerator I had actually ordered. VERY dissatisfied with this refrigerator!!! Should have stood my ground with the hubby and returned it the Monday after it was delivered. The dealer swore this was the one I ordered, even though the one I wanted cost $400.00 more than this one. Wish I had saved the text message to the Local/independent/small dealer, that had the model number of the one I wanted! I don't think I'll ever purchase another whirlpool product. READ all the reviews before you buy this.

Bought over a month ago and absolutely love ! The slide back shelf has really come in handy and the removable ice bin is super neat! Only problem I have is there is about a 1 second delay from the time you pull off the water paddle to the time the water stops flowing. Guests do not know to wait a second before removing cuo which results in water on my floor!

Icemaker problems

We purchased this in June of 2018. Periodically the icemaker would quit making ice and the icetray arm mechanism and nearby area would have ice buildup. We would open the door and clean the ice bucket and the ice near the upper area and it would start making ice again. Then quit again. So we called service out and they said it was likely the water inlet valve. Changed it and still have the same problem. I was able to watch the repairman remove the screws and cover and found ice buildup in the rubber water feed trough and also the water line frozen inside. So now every few weeks it quits making ice, I have to remove the cover and melt the obvious ice blockage in the rubber feed trough and the inlet water line nearby and it starts working again. I am curious as to whether this CAN be fixed or is it just a serious design flaw and others are experiencing the same.

There are just two of us living here and this refrigerator has lots of room. We have not filled it up except for the shelves on the door which hold a lot. It will have plenty of room when our family comes to visit. I like that the ice and water dispensers have separate dispensers.

Good Refrigerator

We bought this refrigerator and it worked fine for a week and then stopped making ice and cooling. Went through Whirlpool and repair that they sent out was super! We decided to return it to Lowe's since we had it only about a week plus. They brought us another one out in about a week. So far, this one is doing ok. Will have to wait and see.

I would suggest whirlpool correct the dripping water that continues after getting ice from dispenser. presently I keep a small plastic dish under spout & routinely empty the water that drips into it.

This model needs a lot of improvement. The doors are not even. The indoor ice maker is not a good idea. The ice falls out because the little door does not close fully. If you use the water feature the water that pools runs down the door because there is no raised area to keep it in. There is condensation between the two door all the time. (have called for service twice issue still exist.) The shelfing space in frig is to small. It is impossible to fit anything inside this frig. If you shop for a lot of food this is not the frig for you. The drawers get stuck when opening and closing.

OBVIOUS SAFETY AND DESIGN PROBLEMS.

When our new refrigerator was delivered and installed (replacing a similar Whirlpool that had failed), the man told us about placing something under the water dispenser to catch drips of water from the spout that will normally be present whenever water is dispensed. Looking at how the water dispenser is right at the front of the door and not recessed, it seems this should have never been made as it is. We eventually cut a black plastic lid from a coffee can to fit on the bottom, but Whirlpool should have designed and provided something to catch the water so it doesn't leave water stains on our "Stainless" refrigerator. The glass shelves are not adjustable for various heights and the refrigerator door (plastic shelves) don't seem to hold as much as before because of their unusual shape. The top shelf, where typically milk and other large containers are put not has a bulky light fixture on one side and another part of the fridge design on the other side, preventing taller items from being placed there. Fortunately, we have no children here since there is a 'pinch point' issue with how the two door handles were placed so close together. In addition, you must be careful not to place you hand around the handle near either end because it can tighten around your fingers when the door is opened. The new design for the ice maker has eliminated most small items storage in the freezer door portion. What we might have gained with an additional larger shelf has made it difficult to easily store small items like we did in the earlier model. A final issue about the door handle pinch point issue. if you wrap your hand around the handle when it's open and then close the door, it will pinch your fingers. The handles should have been placed further apart from each other to prevent this.

Broken down twice in 6 weeks

Installed unit August 17th, on August 26th the fan froze up and stopped cooling. We lost about $300 in food. It took around two-three weeks to get repaired. Now a little over two weeks later the fan has froze up again and I am holding to have repaired again. The filtered water has always come out room temperature. I have a lemon.
